Site Superintendent – Construction

About the role

The Site Superintendent will lead all on‑site construction activities for Wales McLelland projects in Winnipeg. You will supervise crews, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and keep the project on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise employees, sub‑trades and visitors on the worksite.
• Direct field staff to meet project milestones, budget constraints and quality standards.
• Interpret plans and specifications to identify cost‑saving opportunities and potential issues.
• Prepare and maintain schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Manage day‑to‑day field operations, material orders, inspections and as‑built drawings.
• Proactively look ahead at least two weeks to mitigate delays.
• Handle scope changes, ensure current contract documents are used, and prevent re‑work.
• Maintain daily paperwork, timecards, field reports and communication with accounting.
• Enforce Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and WM safety policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of site superintendent experience with a general contractor.
• Experience with tilt‑up and cast‑in‑place concrete is preferred.
• Successful delivery of commercial or industrial projects valued $5‑$20 million.
• Construction Management certificate/diploma or trade qualification is an asset.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using SiteMax (project tracking and timecard system).
