Sessional Lecturer – Governance & Financial Leadership

About the role

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health seeks a Sessional Lecturer to teach CHL4005H, a course on Governance and Financial Leadership for Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) students. The role involves delivering both in‑person and online sessions over multiple semesters, guiding students in financial stewardship and organizational governance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver course content covering governance structures, fiduciary responsibilities, budgeting, costing, financial reporting, and enterprise risk frameworks.
• Facilitate student learning through case studies, analyses of financial statements, and risk assessment exercises.
• Assess student performance and provide feedback on governance and financial stewardship concepts.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, transparency, and accountability within case organizations.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of public‑health governance, directors' fiduciary duties, and the distinction between governance and management.
• Ability to teach financial concepts such as budgeting, costing, and financial analysis to graduate‑level students.
• Experience in assessing enterprise risk, internal controls, and financial reporting to diverse stakeholders.
• Capacity to guide students in applying governance and financial principles to real‑world public‑health challenges.
