Serverless AWS Lambda Developer (12‑month contract)

About the role

Affinity is looking for a skilled Developer to join a public‑sector client on a 12‑month contract. You will design, build, test and deploy serverless solutions using AWS Lambda while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy serverless AWS Lambda services and APIs.
• Integrate backend services with Amazon SES, SMS providers, external APIs and databases.
• Participate across the full software development lifecycle: inception, design, build, testing, deployment and post‑production support.
• Implement secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable application components.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, infrastructure, database and security teams to ensure compliance with security, privacy and operational standards.
• Provide technical onboarding, design reviews, backlog refinement and production deployment support.

Required profile

• Professional software development experience with strong proficiency in C#/.NET and Python.
• Frontend development experience using React and Next.js.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating solutions in AWS (Lambda, SES, SMS integrations, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, database connectivity).
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server and SQL scripting.
• Proven ability to implement DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and release management for large‑scale, customer‑facing applications.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, error handling, logging, monitoring and secure coding practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments and a commitment to continuous learning.
