Senior Transportation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the planning and design of transportation and public‑works projects for our public‑sector clients. The role combines technical design, project management and mentorship within a collaborative environment at Wood Rodgers in Sacramento.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver design and project management services for highways, freeways, interchanges, streets, airports and utility infrastructure.
• Prepare clear design calculations, reports and technical documentation.
• Communicate with clients, agency staff and the public through workshops, presentations and stakeholder meetings.
• Interpret federal, state and local agency design standards and policies.
• Lead project teams, manage budgets, schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
• Mentor junior staff and foster a positive office culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• California Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in transportation or public‑works design.
• Proven experience in project management and client interaction.
