Senior Tax Staff – Mobility & Expatriate Tax (Toronto)

About the role

EY’s People Advisory Services Mobility practice is seeking a Senior Tax Staff to support multinational employers and internationally mobile individuals with Canadian and US tax compliance and advisory solutions. You will work on complex cross‑border tax files, apply technical judgment across jurisdictions, and collaborate within a supportive, team‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex Canadian and US personal income tax returns for internationally mobile employees, including inbound and outbound assignees.
• Identify appropriate tax filing positions, assess risk and technical implications.
• Advise clients on tax implications of cross‑border employment, compensation and mobility arrangements.
• Research tax technical matters and apply conclusions to compliance and advisory deliverables.
• Support mobility advisory engagements, including planning considerations and global coordination initiatives.
• Review work prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Utilize EY technology and standardized tools to improve efficiency and quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant experience in Canadian and/or US personal taxation, preferably with expatriate or mobility exposure.
• Strong interest in global mobility and cross‑border personal taxation.
• Ability to analyze complex tax issues and exercise professional judgment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational skills to manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Working knowledge of tax compliance systems and applicable legislation.
