Senior Tax Manager – Canada

About the role

Apex Group is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead Canadian tax compliance and reporting for its fund administration business. You will work with a global team while focusing on Canadian tax rules, investor reporting, and regulatory filings.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review year‑end distribution calculations for funds and partnerships.
• Complete and review Canadian tax returns and investor slips (T3, T5013, T5008).
• Manage annual FATCA and CRS due‑diligence, reporting and investor classification.
• Prepare SLFI GST/HST filings and ensure compliance with attribution rules.
• Prepare and review T1134 foreign affiliate reporting packages.
• Run mock tax calculations to support planning and client discussions.
• Process investor ACB adjustments and maintain ACB/ARA data in tax software.
• Support tax planning kickoff meetings and structuring discussions.
• Review onboarding reports, set up tax profiles and ensure smooth client integration.
• Lead internal training, monitor legislative changes and update documentation.
• Support automation initiatives and coordinate with operations teams.
• Issue invoices and follow up on outstanding client items.
• Utilise Tax Prep software for compliance, reporting and workflow management.

Required profile

• 7+ years of Canadian tax experience, preferably in asset management, funds or partnerships.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian income tax rules, SLFI/GST/HST, FATCA/CRS and foreign affiliate reporting.
• CPA designation; CICA in‑depth taxation or Masters in Taxation preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize effectively and communicate clearly with clients.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large data sets.
