Senior Research Software Developer

About the role

The Senior Research Software Developer will lead the evolution of the CBRAIN platform, an open‑source web framework for large‑scale data analysis on HPC and cloud infrastructures. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Development, you will shape the platform’s strategic direction and ensure a robust, user‑friendly experience for researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic roadmap for CBRAIN’s web portal, focusing on UX, system design, and sustainable architecture.
• Design, develop, and maintain front‑end interfaces and back‑end services, implementing new features from functional specifications.
• Troubleshoot, upgrade, and monitor the application stack, servers, and related services to guarantee reliability and performance.
• Lead the full software development lifecycle: planning, coding, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Conduct security and performance audits, evaluate new releases, and apply improvements.
• Mentor junior developers and external contributors, sharing best practices and open‑source workflows.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in web‑based research software development.
• Strong background in high‑performance and cloud computing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and guide contributors.
