Senior Research Engineer – AI Data Security

About the role

The Huawei Digital Trust Lab is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to lead the design of AI data security and privacy protection technologies for endpoint devices. You will work on cutting‑edge research, prototype innovative solutions, and help translate advanced security theories into production‑grade defenses for Huawei products.

Key responsibilities

• Research and design AI data security architectures and privacy‑preserving blueprints for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
• Prototype and build innovative security solutions, driving their integration into Huawei endpoint products.
• Monitor global technology trends, regulatory changes, and emerging attack vectors to produce actionable insights.
• Collaborate with worldwide research labs and product engineering teams to accelerate the transition from research prototypes to commercial deployments.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience).
• Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of system‑level security, including identity/access control, authentication, authorization, data sanitization, DLP, information flow control, or confidential computing.
• Strong expertise in AI‑specific security engineering such as safety alignment, data poisoning protection, robust learning, backdoor detection, or prompt‑injection mitigation.
• Proven experience designing and implementing security and privacy solutions for complex AI systems.
• Solid foundation in cryptographic concepts, both symmetric‑key and public‑key cryptography.
• Proficiency in at least one core programming language: C/C++, Java, or Python.
