Senior QA Automation Engineer

About the role

Dayforce is modernizing its Canadian payroll and human capital management solution, Powerpay, by building scalable, cloud-native services. It is looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior QA Automation Engineer who combines strong software testing expertise, automation development skills and a passion for using AI to improve software quality and testing efficiency. The role covers web, mobile and backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and run automated tests for web apps, mobile apps, APIs and backend services
• Build and improve automation frameworks with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium or equivalents
• Analyse requirements and user stories to create test strategies and test cases, using risk-based testing
• Leverage AI tools to generate, refine and optimise test cases, test data and automation scripts
• Cover functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Work with developers, product owners, architects and DevOps engineers, investigate defects and validate data integrity and business rules
• Take part in Agile ceremonies, mentor junior QA engineers and improve automation coverage and efficiency

Required profile

• Proven experience in software testing and test automation, and in designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, end-to-end and API testing
• Knowledge of test case design techniques such as boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, decision tables and negative testing
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL for backend data validation
• Experience with Git, code reviews and test automation development practices

Required skills

• Automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or Appium
• Programming or scripting in JavaScript, TypeScript, Java or Python
• REST API testing with Postman, REST Assured or similar
• Debugging, analytical and problem-solving abilities
