Senior Project Manager – Infrastructure Planning

About the role

The City of Hamilton is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the planning and strategic delivery of capital infrastructure projects that support the city’s growth and redevelopment. Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Planning, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with municipal and provincial policies, and engage with the public and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of capital infrastructure planning studies and servicing strategies, following approved municipal processes.
• Manage infrastructure planning projects, including terms of reference, consultant procurement, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
• Coordinate with internal departments, external agencies, Indigenous Nations, and stakeholder groups on environmental and heritage issues.
• Identify budget and resource needs, set performance benchmarks, and support the Growth Management Capital Budget process.

Required profile

• University degree or college diploma in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or OECETT certification.
• Extensive knowledge of municipal infrastructure planning, design principles, approvals, and public engagement for road, sewer, and watermain projects.
• Strong project‑management experience with demonstrated leadership, staff supervision, and ability to work in a unionized environment.
• Familiarity with Transportation Planning, Storm Water Management, Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, and related provincial/federal legislation.
