Senior Manager, Business Operations

About the role

ShyftLabs is seeking a Senior Manager, Business Operations to lead and optimise our end‑to‑end operational processes from its Toronto office. The role blends hands‑on execution with strategic oversight, ensuring contracts, financial workflows, client onboarding and internal systems run smoothly and align with company growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full contracts lifecycle, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs and vendor agreements, and maintain a compliant contract repository.
• Identify, apply for and manage government grants and funding programs such as SR&ED and IRAP across North America.
• Support client onboarding, act as the operational liaison between internal teams and clients, and improve client‑facing processes.
• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including invoicing, collections, expense tracking, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Manage the internal software stack (Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, AWS, GitHub, PagerDuty, Postman, Figma, Miro, Claude, etc.), optimise licences and costs.
• Coordinate employee onboarding/offboarding, device procurement, security best practices and compliance initiatives (ISO, SOC2, internal policies).

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on business operations experience in a high‑growth tech, startup or consulting environment.
• University degree in business administration, management, commerce or a related field.
• Proven track record managing contracts, legal coordination and financial processes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to adapt quickly across multiple business lines.
