Senior Manager, Business Operations

About the role

ShyftLabs is seeking a Senior Manager, Business Operations to join its fast‑growing Toronto office. The role blends hands‑on execution with strategic oversight, driving operational excellence across contracts, finance, compliance, and internal tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end contracts process, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs and vendor agreements.
• Partner with external legal counsel for review and negotiation of agreements.
• Maintain a contract repository and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
• Identify, apply for, and manage government grants and funding programs (e.g., SR&ED, IRAP).
• Support client onboarding, operational coordination, and improve client‑facing processes.
• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations such as invoicing, collections, expense tracking, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Manage the internal software stack (Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, AWS, GitHub, PagerDuty, Postman, Figma, Miro, Claude, etc.) and drive cost optimisation.
• Handle employee onboarding/offboarding, device procurement, and enforce security best practices.
• Support compliance initiatives (ISO, SOC2) and ensure operational efficiency across global teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in business operations.
• University degree in business administration, management, commerce or related field.
• Background in a startup, consulting firm or high‑growth tech environment.
• Proven experience managing contracts and legal coordination.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
