Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

As a Senior Legal Counsel at NFI, you will serve as a key advisor to business unit leaders, providing practical, solution‑focused legal guidance. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will help shape strategic decisions while managing legal risk across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive strategic and tactical advice on corporate, commercial, litigation and regulatory matters.
• Identify legal issues and risks, recommending effective mitigation strategies.
• Manage litigation matters and supervise external counsel.
• Negotiate, draft, review and interpret a wide range of legal agreements.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, risk prevention and corporate governance matters.
• Assist with corporate, financing, M&A and other transactional activities.
• Liaise with finance, tax, sourcing and other functional teams.

Required profile

• Law degree and a current license to practice in a Canadian or U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3‑5 years of corporate/commercial legal experience in a law firm or in‑house setting.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent professional communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong organizational and time‑management capabilities.
• Self‑starter attitude with ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
