Senior Legal Counsel (Investments)

About the role

The Building Ontario Fund is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Investment Legal team in downtown Toronto. You will act as the in‑house lead on sophisticated debt and equity financing transactions for infrastructure and real‑estate projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead legal work on high‑profile infrastructure financing across energy, transportation, affordable housing, long‑term care, critical minerals, and municipal projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex bespoke agreements and financing documents.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and coordinate multi‑jurisdictional legal matters.
• Provide commercially‑focused legal advice to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Support the Assistant General Counsel in strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• 5+ years of relevant experience in a leading law firm or sophisticated in‑house legal department.
• Exposure to project finance, infrastructure, banking and finance, debt/equity financing, or real‑estate finance.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.
• Prior experience in infrastructure or the public sector is an asset but not mandatory.
