Senior IT Administrator

About the role

Our client in Surrey, BC is looking for a Senior IT Administrator to join their on‑site team. This permanent position works Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:30 pm, with occasional after‑hours and on‑call responsibilities to support critical incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including Fortinet firewalls, switches, routers, and VPN connections.
• Serve as system administrator for Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, hybrid cloud, and SAML authentication.
• Implement and oversee cybersecurity programs, Incident Response Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans, applying Zero Trust principles.
• Administer backup, virtualization, and storage solutions such as Veeam, VMware, NAS, and RingCentral VOIP.
• Provide after‑hours emergency support and occasional travel to western Canadian branches.
• Utilize RMM tools and ticketing systems, develop PowerShell automation scripts, and monitor IT operations.
• Deliver end‑user technical support, mentor junior staff, and support remote branch offices.
• Own critical infrastructure components, ensuring patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of IT administration experience, preferably in a multi‑site environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Fortinet firewalls, switches, and VPN configurations.
• Willingness to work after hours and respond to critical incidents.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and own complex projects.
• Experience with VMware, Veeam, Microsoft 365, and enterprise‑scale network infrastructure.
• Familiarity with RMM tools, ticketing systems, and cybersecurity frameworks.
