Senior Industry Partnerships Officer

About the role

The Senior Industry Partnerships Officer supports McGill researchers in developing and managing complex industry‑sponsored research projects. Reporting to the Associate Director, Industry Partnerships, the role bridges academia, industry, and external partners to advance natural sciences, engineering, and interdisciplinary research.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior‑level guidance throughout the full lifecycle of industry‑partnered grants and contracts, from opportunity identification to post‑award management.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret high‑risk agreements such as research contracts, collaborative agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
• Identify contractual, financial, IP, compliance, and research‑security risks; propose mitigation strategies and secure internal approvals.
• Collaborate closely with the Technology Transfer Office, Awards Management Office, and Research Security team to ensure alignment with university policies and regulatory requirements.
• Increase visibility of grant opportunities and assist researchers in preparing proposals that combine industry funding with federal and provincial sources.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in research administration, contract negotiation, and partnership development within a university or research institution.
• Strong understanding of research security, compliance, and dual‑use technology considerations.
• Proven ability to work across multiple internal offices and external stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on risk mitigation.
