Senior GenAI Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior GenAI Engineer to design and deliver large‑language‑model (LLM) solutions for a leading North‑American financial institution. The role blends advanced AI research with production‑grade engineering, supporting business units across banking, wealth management, and insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement LLM‑based solutions, including Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, fine‑tuning, embeddings, and model evaluation.
• Build scalable GenAI micro‑services and integrate them with internal systems using Azure cloud native architecture.
• Perform advanced prompt engineering, agent design, and develop safety guardrails.
• Evaluate open‑source and commercial models for performance, risk, and cost.
• Collaborate with data teams to prepare training data, knowledge bases, and analytics.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and enterprise security frameworks.
• Mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and document data sources.
• Oversee knowledge‑base ingestion, refresh pipelines, and implement continuous quality measurement.
• Present model performance and business impact to senior stakeholders and develop business cases for adoption.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in machine learning, NLP, or AI engineering.
• 2+ years focused on Generative AI/LLM development.
• Proven experience deploying GenAI solutions in production (MLOps/GenAI Ops).
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• LLM platforms: OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama.
• RAG, vector databases, embeddings, model evaluation methods.
• Cloud‑native architecture on Azure.
• MLOps / GenAI Ops pipelines.
• BI and visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau.
• Programming: Python.
• SQL and data modeling; relational and NoSQL stores (e.g., Hadoop, NoSQL).
• Classical ML and statistical methods: regression, tree‑based models, clustering.
