Senior Fund Accountant, Private Debt

About the role

MUFG Investor Services supports the private debt side of its fund administration business. The Senior Fund Accountant supports the day-to-day administration and financial reporting needs of Private Equity and Private Debt clients, working closely with clients, banks, auditors and other third parties.

Key responsibilities

• Review financial data received from Private Equity and Private Debt clients and load it into internal accounting systems
• Assist with setting up, preparing and reviewing consolidations through the investment structure using various consolidation rules
• Process payment of fund expenses in the applicable banking system
• Book journal entries for cash payments and accruals
• Prepare third-party reconciliations of investments and cash
• Prepare capital call and distribution calculations and notices
• Prepare fee schedules, including management fees and carried interest, in line with fund documents
• Prepare investor allocations for each NAV cycle so that capital transactions and P&L are booked correctly
• Prepare NAV packages and other ad hoc deliverables defined in the service level agreements

Required profile

• Post-secondary education or university degree with a concentration in finance or accounting
• A few years of experience in fund administration, including managing staff such as other administrators, investment managers or fund auditors
• In-depth understanding of fund administration, including multiple fund structures, fee calculations, financial instruments and fund offering documentation

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with fund accounting software (Geneva, Investran or Yardi) is an asset
• Working knowledge of Bloomberg is beneficial but not necessary
