Senior Financial Specialist – Finance & Procurement

About the role

The Senior Financial Specialist provides advanced financial processing support for the UBC Sauder School of Business. This full‑time position handles complex accounts payable and receivable tasks, monitors budget variances, and assists with financial reporting while delivering Workday training to new staff and faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Identify and report budget discrepancies and support financial reporting activities.
• Deliver Workday training and onboarding for student employees, new hires, and faculty members.
• Provide financial help‑desk support for the in‑house registration system across three business units.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Coordinate with all finance‑related units and act as the first point of contact within the Finance Strategy and Support unit.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in finance or accounting within a complex organization.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills for training and cross‑department collaboration.
