Senior Financial Analyst – Tax Policy

About the role

Empire Life is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its Tax team. The role focuses on tax slip reporting, compliance, and process improvement while supporting corporate tax remittances across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Act as subject‑matter expert for tax slip reporting and ensure compliance with CRA/MRQ legislation.
• Contribute to corporate, commodity and premium tax installment remittance processes.
• Identify and implement improvements to tax policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Support annual year‑end tax processes and tax‑related system changes.
• Provide technical escalation support for taxation issues and ensure timely regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate on special projects and lead departmental initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience with Canadian tax, preferably in insurance or investment fund environments.
• University degree with coursework in accounting, finance, taxation, audit or business administration.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on automation and process improvement.

Required skills

• Power BI
• Advanced Excel, including macro creation and deployment
• Python (basic/entry‑level coding)
• Knowledge of AI‑driven applications in finance and taxation
