Senior Financial Analyst

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s Office of the Provost and Vice President Academic is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to manage and oversee the academic strategic funds valued at approximately $150 million annually. This role supports the Provost Portfolio, including the Academic Excellence Fund, President’s Academic Excellence Initiatives, and the newly formed Provost Strategic Fund.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the academic strategic funds, ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic goals.
• Develop and implement financial models, reports, and schedules for the Provost/VP Academic leadership team.
• Provide senior‑level accounting functions and counsel on strategic financial direction.
• Support the Portfolio Finance Director with budgeting, accounting, reporting, and financial management systems.
• Deliver financial and forecasting expertise to enable accurate strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in financial analysis and accounting.
• Proven ability to manage large, strategic funding portfolios.
• Strong analytical and forecasting skills to support high‑level decision making.
• Experience collaborating with senior university leadership and finance teams.
