Senior FDIR-FSW Systems Engineer (Satellite)

About the role

As a senior member of the System Engineering Department, you will work with operations, systems, subsystems and payload engineers to document and review system designs for Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR). You will also hand off designs to the flight software team to participate in implementation, testing and review of FDIR test artifacts.

Key responsibilities

• Document and review system designs for FDIR across platform, subsystems and payload.
• Collaborate with operations, systems, subsystems and payload engineers to define fault detection actions and contingency scenarios.
• Work with the flight software team to implement, test and validate FDIR test artifacts on FlatSat and DSS platforms.
• Review Interface Control Documents (ICDs), FMECAs and fault trees to provide feedback on detection, isolation and recovery of failure modes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field.
• At least 10 years of practical experience with LEO/MEO satellite systems and cross‑functional team collaboration.
• Experience with FMECAs, Fault Tree Analysis and understanding of failure propagation.

Required skills

• FMECAs and Fault Tree Analysis.
• Satellite flight software (FSW) monitoring for FDIR.
• Requirements management tools such as DOORS, Windchill or Jama.
• Microsoft Excel for engineering analyses.
