Senior Data Scientist – Compliance Strategy & Innovation

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Analyst, Data Scientist to strengthen its Compliance Strategy, Data Intelligence & Innovation group. You will work on anti‑money‑laundering, counter‑terrorist financing and sanctions monitoring, using data to improve alert quality and reduce false positives.

Key responsibilities

• Support tuning and optimization of sanctions screening and transaction monitoring scenarios.
• Design, test, and validate risk indicators and analytical features using transactional, entity, and behavioral data.
• Document insights throughout the scenario lifecycle, from hypothesis development to production readiness.
• Monitor scenario and model performance to ensure explainability, auditability, and regulator readiness.
• Prepare clear summaries of scenario performance, trade‑offs, and residual risk for compliance leadership.
• Build and maintain reusable Python and SQL code for data extraction and analysis.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in financial crime detection or related domains.
• Ability to simplify and automate manual processes.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams including compliance, legal, technology, and operations.
