Senior Data Engineer (Azure / Databricks)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a client’s team on a 12‑month contract, with the possibility of extension. The role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Microsoft Azure within a remote work environment based in Alberta, Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms using Databricks and Azure services.
• Build end‑to‑end data engineering solutions from ingestion through transformation to analytics‑ready datasets.
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes following modern data engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with solution architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Contribute to solution architecture and cloud design discussions across multi‑cloud environments.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise pipeline performance and reliability.
• Ensure data solutions meet security, governance, and scalability requirements.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience as a Data Engineer.
• Hands‑on expertise with Databricks and Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Strong understanding of data architecture and solution design.
• Proven ability to build end‑to‑end data engineering solutions in multi‑cloud settings.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
