Senior Compiler Engineer

About the role

Huawei Canada's Heterogeneous Compiler Lab is seeking a Senior Compiler Engineer to lead the design, development and testing of compiler technologies across AI, GPU and CPU architectures. The role involves close collaboration with hardware teams to deliver high‑performance software‑hardware co‑design for diverse applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test compiler software to meet product requirements.
• Analyze and optimise system performance and support hardware‑software co‑design.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to define feature requirements and create development plans.
• Lead scrum activities, code reviews and project planning while fostering team building.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews and educational sessions.
• Research industry trends and propose new technical directions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in large software projects using C++, C or Java.
• Demonstrated experience in at least two of: LLVM/Clang compiler development, language runtime design, deep‑learning framework integration, GPU driver development, or hardware accelerator programming.
• Strong understanding of system design concepts, data structures, algorithms and operating systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of computer processor architecture.
• Proficiency with source‑control, bug‑tracking and other development tools.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field (preferred).

What we offer

• Target annual compensation ranging from $127,000 to $225,000 CAD, based on experience and expertise.
