Senior Clinical Pharmacist – Band 8A (Fixed‑term)

About the role

NHSGGC Pharmacy Services is seeking a Band 8A Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join its newly created Interface Team. This fixed‑term position will support medicines governance and optimisation across the primary‑secondary care interface, helping to improve patient safety and care pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant practice.
• Manage pharmacy staff, drive performance, and contribute to strategic planning.
• Provide advanced pharmaceutical care as an independent prescriber, including complex case management and optimisation of medicine use.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, and continuity of care across settings.
• Lead or contribute to research, audits, and quality‑improvement projects, establishing quality standards.
• Identify training needs and deliver education for pharmacy staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain expert clinical knowledge and ensure safe handling, storage, and governance of medicines.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Prescribing qualification and ability to act as an independent prescriber.
• Experience in clinical pharmacy, medicines governance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead service development and quality‑improvement initiatives.
