Senior Analyst / Associate – ESG

About the role

Based in Victoria, BC, the Senior Analyst or Associate, ESG will support British Columbia Investment Management Corporation’s responsible investing program. You will work on proxy voting, portfolio company engagement, and ESG integration across capital markets and credit investments. The role offers hands‑on exposure to stewardship of C$165 billion of assets.

Key responsibilities

• Research and extract ESG data from multiple sources and platforms.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of company ESG performance, including peer benchmarking.
• Conduct research on emerging ESG issues and support proxy voting decisions.
• Engage with portfolio companies on stewardship priorities and prepare engagement recommendations.
• Respond to client inquiries, prepare ESG reports, and support client documentation.
• Maintain digital files, databases, and perform occasional administrative tasks such as note‑taking and meeting coordination.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree with 2‑5 years of experience in a financial organization, preferably within the pension‑fund sector.
• Strong interest in ESG issues and understanding of their risk/return implications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with AI tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Diplomacy, strong interpersonal judgment, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
