Senior Accountant - Mining

About the role

Our client, a well‑established organization operating across North America in a project‑based environment, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its collaborative finance team in Toronto. The role supports both Canadian and U.S. operations within the mining sector, ensuring high‑quality reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, management reports and variance analyses.
• Assist with internal and external audits, tax filings and statutory financial statements.
• Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations and consolidations across North America.
• Support cash‑flow reporting and financial forecasting.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, financial processes and reporting accuracy.
• Drive system and reporting improvements, including automation initiatives.
• Partner with project managers to track project accounting and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal financial policies.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• 3‑5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Public accounting/audit experience with a top audit firm.
• Experience in mining, engineering or construction is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Canadian/U.S. financial reporting standards.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented and deadline‑driven.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• ERP systems (Sage experience is a plus).
• Financial reporting and month‑end/year‑end close.
