Senior Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a growing entrepreneurial Ontario‑based business to hire a Senior Accountant who will report directly to the CEO. This highly visible position offers broad exposure across accounting, finance, operations and business strategy, allowing you to influence the company’s financial direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities and prepare financial statements, cash‑flow reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and payroll oversight.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and long‑term financial planning.
• Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and strengthen internal controls, policies and financial processes.
• Drive process‑improvement and digital‑transformation initiatives across the finance function.
• Partner with senior leadership on strategic projects, business planning and operational decision‑making.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting team members.

Required profile

• CPA designation (or near completion) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a small‑to‑mid‑size organization.
• Strong experience preparing financial statements and managing the full accounting cycle.
• Advanced Excel and QuickBooks Online expertise.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Ability to identify process‑improvement opportunities and drive operational efficiencies.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
