Senior Account Manager, Special Loans & Restructuring

About the role

The Senior Account Manager, Special Loans and Restructuring, oversees commercial default files and problem accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and AML requirements. The role involves proactive workout strategies, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and direct support to senior leadership on default management initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex delinquent commercial mortgages (typically > $2.5 MM), minimize losses, and process loans for legal action when necessary.
• Conduct full financial reviews and recommend appropriate legal remedies to senior management.
• Perform underwriting and collateral analysis for defaulted loans, updating risk ratings and reporting to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Mortgage Services and other departments to monitor and resolve non‑performing loans.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management, the board, and regulators, including problem‑loan and provisioning reports.
• Lead ad‑hoc projects, policy development, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of commercial mortgage experience, with prior default management preferred.
• Business degree or related discipline; CPA or equivalent professional designation is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mortgage enforcement, foreclosures, and Canadian regulatory environment.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines and high‑intensity conditions.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within provinces, including occasional overnight trips.
