Second Officer – Floatel Navigation & Guest Services

About the role

The Second Officer will join the crew of MV Isabelle X / MV Saga X, operating as a floatel off Squamish, BC. Working under the Chief Officer, you will support safe navigation, vessel operations and deliver high‑quality guest experiences on board.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Officer with navigation, maneuvering, berthing and route planning.
• Maintain up‑to‑date charts, publications and navigation equipment in line with safety regulations.
• Monitor weather, tides and other factors affecting vessel movement.
• Implement safety procedures, conduct drills and ensure life‑saving and firefighting equipment is functional.
• Respond to emergencies, safeguarding guests and crew.
• Collaborate with hotel management to address guest inquiries, requests and participation in onboard activities.
• Supervise crew members, deliver safety and service training, and support performance evaluations.
• Prepare accurate logs, incident reports and regulatory documentation.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience as a Second Officer or equivalent deck officer role.
• Proven ability to work in a rotational, full‑time schedule.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Commitment to safety, HSE standards and guest satisfaction.
