Safety Planning Specialist

About the role

The Safety Planning Specialist supports UBC’s commitment to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming campus. Working within Threat Assessment, Campus Security, and Safety & Risk Services, the role focuses on preventing and mitigating risks linked to disruptive or potentially violent behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct threat assessments and risk analyses for referrals involving potential safety concerns.
• Develop and implement individualized safety plans for persons, groups, or departments.
• Coordinate incident escalations, investigative reviews, and response actions with internal and external partners.
• Support safety planning for high‑profile events and large‑scale campus activities.
• Provide expertise and consultation to strengthen institutional capacity for violence prevention and threat management.

Required profile

• Experience in threat assessment, risk management, or campus safety planning.
• Ability to develop comprehensive safety strategies and individualized plans.
• Strong collaboration skills with university departments, emergency services, and community partners.
• Capacity to conduct investigative reviews and manage incident escalations.
