Road Grinder Operator – Asphalt Milling Machine Operator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Road Grinder Operator to run large asphalt milling and cold planer machines on municipal, commercial and heavy‑civil road projects in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate will take pride in precise milling work, equipment care and safe execution on busy job sites.

Key responsibilities

• Operate large asphalt milling / road grinder machines safely and efficiently.
• Perform depth‑controlled milling according to project specifications.
• Conduct daily pre‑trip and equipment inspections.
• Collaborate with ground crews, truck drivers and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
• Follow health & safety policies, traffic‑control plans and site procedures.
• Maintain clean, orderly and safe work areas.
• Report mechanical issues, deficiencies or hazards immediately.
• Complete required documentation such as inspection logs and work tickets.

Required profile

• Minimum 2–3 years experience operating asphalt milling or road grinder equipment.
• Experience with large cold planer machines (e.g., Wirtgen, CAT, Roadtec or similar).
• Valid driver’s licence; AZ/DZ licence is an asset.
• Ability to work long hours, nights and weekends as required.
• Physically capable of working in outdoor construction conditions.
• Strong communication skills and a safety‑first mindset.

• Operation of asphalt milling and road grinder equipment.
• Cold planer machine operation (Wirtgen, CAT, Roadtec).
• Valid driver’s licence (AZ/DZ preferred).
