About the role
The Registered Nurse – Recovery provides direct nursing care to patients in a same‑day surgery setting, overseeing post‑operative recovery in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The RN ensures patient safety, monitors vital signs, administers prescribed medications, and supports patients and families during the recovery period.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, develop, and implement comprehensive nursing care plans for post‑operative patients.
- Administer medications and treatments ordered by physicians, documenting all actions accurately.
- Monitor patients for symptoms, reactions, and changes in physical or mental status, reporting findings promptly.
- Provide pain and nausea management, ensuring appropriate medication use.
- Discharge patients according to facility policies and coordinate follow‑up care.
- Maintain accurate charge sheets for supplies and medications used.
- Support patients and families psychologically and maintain confidentiality.
- Assist in orientation and training of new staff members.
Required profile
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current Registered Nurse license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Ability to work independently in emergency situations and make quick, sound decisions.
- Commitment to continuing education and meeting CEU requirements for licensure renewal.
Required skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
