Retail & Production Associate

About the role

Birdzy is looking for a reliable, friendly person to join their Ottawa team in a hands‑on role that blends production, retail and market duties. You will help make and package bird‑seed products, support customers in the store and online, and represent the brand at local markets.

Key responsibilities

• Make and package seed cylinders, bagged bird seed, gifts and other products following recipes and checklists.
• Operate shrink‑wrapping equipment, label items, pick and pack orders, prepare shipping labels and arrange courier pickups.
• Open and close the store and warehouse, count cash float, balance the till and maintain a clean work environment.
• Receive deliveries, track inventory, price products, restock shelves and create displays.
• Assist customers in person, by phone and email; process sales, returns, exchanges and resolve concerns.
• Update product listings, photos, descriptions and prices on Shopify.
• Set up and take down the booth at weekend markets, load and unload equipment.
• Participate in social‑media photo and video shoots featuring products and daily work.
• Operate a forklift after training and certification.

Required profile

• Dependable, organized and comfortable switching between tasks.
• Friendly manner and confidence when talking with customers.
• Good attention to detail in production, packing and data entry.
• Comfortable using computers and learning retail/website systems.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Physically able to stand for long periods, lift bags up to 50 lb and perform repetitive tasks.
• Available for weekday and weekend shifts, including early market starts.

Required skills

• Shopify product management.
• Forklift operation (training provided).
