Retail Gen AI Hackathon Research Assistant

About the role

This part‑time position supports the first edition of the Retail Gen AI Hackathon at McGill University. You will work closely with the hackathon team, help coordinate student participation, and ensure smooth execution of both virtual and on‑site activities.

Key responsibilities

• Attend regular meetings with the hackathon team and company partners.
• Promote the competition and attract student teams using your network.
• Assist in setting up scoring grids for jury members and related administrative tasks.
• Support event logistics, including set‑up and tear‑down on October 14‑16.
• Help manage the virtual phase of the competition and transition to the live campus phase.

Required profile

• Current McGill student enrolled in MMR, MBA, MMA, or BCom (Retail concentration) programs.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and within a team.
• Client‑focused attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Fluency in English; French is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
