Retail Baker

About the role

We are seeking a skilled baker to join our retail bake shop in Calgary. The role involves preparing a wide range of breads, rolls, pastries, and custom orders for our customers while maintaining high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls, and sweet goods, as well as batters for muffins, cookies, cakes, icings, and frostings.
• Bake mixed doughs and batters according to recipes or special customer orders.
• Handle special orders and ensure timely delivery.
• Train and supervise staff in baking techniques and safety.
• Maintain product quality to meet established standards.
• Operate bakery machinery safely and efficiently.
• Organise and maintain inventory of ingredients and supplies.
• Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods.
• Keep accurate records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.

Required profile

• Accurate, detail‑oriented, and able to distinguish colours.
• Strong client focus, dependability, and excellent communication skills.
• Team player with good judgement and reliability.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
• Good hand‑eye coordination, manual dexterity, and capacity to handle heavy loads.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and meeting tight deadlines under pressure.
