Researcher - Supercharging Converter

About the role

Huawei Canada’s Smart Grid Technology Lab is seeking a researcher to develop and optimise high‑efficiency Supercharging Converter systems for electric‑vehicle charging infrastructure. The role involves technical design, cross‑functional collaboration and staying abreast of emerging power‑conversion technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise high‑efficiency Supercharging Converter systems for electric‑vehicle charging infrastructure, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Create technical specifications and detailed schematics for Supercharging Converter designs.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and mechanical engineers to integrate and operate the converters.
• Stay current with emerging power‑conversion, battery‑charging and renewable‑energy technologies.
• Participate in industry conferences and seminars to advance knowledge in supercharging technologies.
• Identify and define research directions that align with the company’s mid‑to‑long‑term business goals.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or a related field with a strong publication record.
• Proven experience leading new technology development programs and driving innovation.
• Strong international technological foresight and ability to assess cutting‑edge trends.

Required skills

• Proficiency with circuit design and simulation tools such as MATLAB, PSpice, Simulink and LTspice.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware development for power control.
• Knowledge of electric‑vehicle charging standards (CCS, CHAdeMO) and supercharging technology.
