Research Scientist

About the role

Waabi is a leader in Physical AI, building autonomous trucks and robotaxis. As a Research Scientist you will invent new AI technologies that enable fully driverless autonomous trucks and contribute to Waabi’s vision of a single end‑to‑end learning system.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to AI research projects, developing novel algorithms for the autonomy stack and the high‑fidelity Waabi World simulator.
• Work on diverse self‑driving problems such as perception, motion forecasting, controls, sensor simulation, scenario generation, behavior modeling, mapping, localization, data mining and safe deployment.
• Develop innovative solutions using transformers, foundational models, large language/vision models, generative modeling, imitation and reinforcement learning, and inverse rendering.
• Collaborate with platform teams to integrate research outcomes into production systems and ensure seamless deployment.
• Publish research at top conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR) and share findings on the company blog.

Required profile

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics or a related field (exceptional Bachelors also considered).
• Demonstrated research experience through internships, work, projects and papers at leading conferences.
• Strong quantitative background with knowledge of linear algebra, calculus and probability.
• Proficiency in reading and coding in Python.
• Passion for self‑driving technologies and a collaborative, open‑minded attitude.
