Research Intern – Refrigeration & Air‑Conditioning Technology

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to support the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol. The internship focuses on researching refrigeration, air‑conditioning and heat‑pump technologies, assessing alternative refrigerants, and analysing related intellectual‑property issues.

Key responsibilities

• Map refrigeration, air‑conditioning and heat‑pump technologies across capacities and regions, noting controlled substances and alternative options.
• Collect and evaluate intellectual‑property rights information for alternative technologies and components.
• Summarise and compare findings from global and regional RACHP technology reports.
• Prepare concise briefs and cost‑indication tables for senior programme staff.
• Assist the Multilateral Fund Secretariat with ad‑hoc research tasks.
