Research Coordinator – Clinical Studies

About the role

The Research Coordinator supports the Principal Investigator in executing a pediatric emergency medicine research project at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. The role ensures regulatory approvals are in place and that daily research activities run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with ethics and operational approvals, amendments, and annual renewals.
• Set up and maintain study initiation activities, liaise with hospital staff, and procure equipment and materials.
• Oversee patient recruitment, screening, and database management.
• Prepare and submit online Research Ethics Board (REB) applications and ensure compliance with Health Canada and sponsor requirements.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and study documentation.
• Train and supervise new staff and students contributing to the project.
• Interact with study participants and their families, ensuring proper consent processes.

Required profile

• Experience supporting a Principal Investigator in clinical research.
• Ability to work collaboratively with investigators, clinical staff, and research teams.
• Strong organizational skills for tracking study progress and troubleshooting issues.
• Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and REB processes.
