Research Associate – Preclinical Mouse Models (Diabetes & Metabolism)

About the role

The Department of Cellular & Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia seeks a full‑time Research Associate to join Dr. James Johnson’s laboratory. The position focuses on designing and executing large pre‑clinical mouse model projects related to diabetes and metabolism.

Key responsibilities

• Design, manage, and execute pre‑clinical mouse model studies targeting diabetes, metabolism and related conditions.
• Perform physiological testing, genotyping, and breeding strategies.
• Provide scientific leadership and technical expertise within multidisciplinary research teams.
• Supervise, mentor, and train graduate students and research staff.

Required profile

• Strong background in cellular and physiological research.
• Experience with large‑scale animal studies and collaborative projects.
• Ability to lead and communicate within multidisciplinary teams.
