Research Associate – EEG & Neurophysiology

About the role

The Pacific Parkinson's Research Centre at UBC is seeking a Research Associate with strong expertise in EEG analysis, signal processing, and quantitative neuroscience. The role supports cutting‑edge projects focused on Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders, working closely with an interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced neurophysiological signal‑processing pipelines to extract clinically relevant biomarkers from EEG data.
• Perform EEG preprocessing, artifact removal, and denoising to improve data quality.
• Design and apply algorithms for analyzing neural responses during electrical brain stimulation, including Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation (GVS).
• Integrate computational modeling and machine‑learning approaches for biomarker discovery and validation.
• Collaborate on experimental design, data collection, and analysis with interdisciplinary researchers.
• Prepare and present findings at conferences, workshops, and academic meetings.
• Contribute to peer‑reviewed publications, technical reports, and grant proposals.
• Mentor junior researchers and support routine lab operations.

Required profile

• Graduate‑level training in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with EEG data analysis and signal‑processing techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for scientific dissemination.
