Research Assistant / Technician 2 – Mood Disorders Centre

About the role

Assist with research activities within the UBC Mood Disorders Centre at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, supporting clinical studies and data management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with writing and preparing protocol material (screening checklists, consent forms, ethics, protocols, patient information sheets).
• Recruit and screen potential research participants and obtain informed consent.
• Transcribe patient data into study report forms and maintain study records.
• Administer questionnaires and complete study procedures with participants.
• Perform data entry and score instruments, ensuring accuracy.
• Prepare and ship biological samples (blood, urine) for studies.
• Coordinate appointments and assist with patient flow through the clinic.
• Conduct literature reviews and internet searches.
• Train and oversee lower‑level research assistants, assign work and orient to new procedures and equipment.

Required profile

• High school graduation with additional training in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Preferred: experience in a research setting, especially clinical trials and working with psychiatric populations.
