Research Assistant / Technician 2 – Clinical Trials

About the role

The Clinical Research team at the UBC Hospital Site seeks a Research Assistant / Technician 2 to support recruitment, enrolment, and operational tasks for ongoing Phase I‑IV clinical trials. The role involves handling confidential information, following strict study protocols, and performing routine clinical and laboratory activities.

Key responsibilities

• Administer questionnaires, enter data, and schedule participant appointments.
• Assist with study visits, including informed consent, vital signs collection, and breathing assessments.
• Prepare sample collection kits, centrifuge blood samples, and aliquot plasma, serum, or urine.
• Maintain and calibrate pulmonary function equipment and nebulizers.
• Prepare methacholine and allergen dilutions using aseptic technique.
• Support recruitment activities: develop materials, conduct phone screening, and communicate with potential participants.
• Prepare source documents, research materials, correspondence, reports, and newsletters as needed.

• Ability to work with confidential information and adhere to strict study protocols.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Direct reporting to the Clinical Research Coordinator and supervision from the Principal Investigator.

What we offer

• Hourly compensation ranging from $28.29 to $33.66 CAD.
• One‑year fixed‑term position with potential reappointments in four‑month increments.
