Research Assistant – Parkinson’s Movement Disorders

About the role

The Appel‑Cresswell Lab at UBC’s Pacific Parkinson’s Research Centre is seeking a part‑time (0.6 FTE) Research Assistant to support clinical studies on Parkinson’s disease. You will work onsite with participants, graduate students and clinical staff, contributing to the LENSER study and other lab projects.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and pre‑screen participants using electronic medical records (EMR).
• Conduct cognitive testing, motor assessments and administer rating scales.
• Collect, enter and track study data and biological samples.
• Prepare study visit documents and ensure compliance with ethics and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
• Provide administrative support for multiple research projects and cover for colleagues as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to work onsite at the UBC Vancouver Campus.
• Comfort interacting regularly with study participants.
• Capacity to work independently after training, with weekly supervision from the PI and Research Manager.
• Commitment to a fixed‑term appointment ending July 2027.

Required skills

• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) knowledge.
• Familiarity with Tri‑council (TCPS‑2) research ethics guidelines.
• Proficiency in navigating Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Accurate data entry and sample‑tracking abilities.
