Research Assistant – Clinical Salpingectomy Study

About the role

The Department of Surgery at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine is seeking a part‑time Research Assistant to support a clinical study evaluating opportunistic salpingectomy as an ovarian cancer prevention strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Review clinical schedules and patient records to identify potentially eligible participants.
• Screen participants and document eligibility according to study protocols.
• Approach patients, provide study information, answer questions and obtain informed consent.
• Collect and enter study data accurately.
• Attend surgical procedures in the operating room to observe and measure the time required to perform opportunistic salpingectomy.

Required profile

• Ability to work with clinical schedules and patient records.
• Experience interacting with patients and obtaining informed consent.
• Comfortable working in an operating‑room environment and collaborating with surgeons, nurses and research staff.
