Remote Tax Law Expert

About the role

Turing, a leading AI research accelerator, is seeking a U.S. tax law specialist to help fine‑tune large language models. This fully remote, freelance position allows you to apply your expertise in federal, corporate, partnership, and international tax to evaluate AI‑generated tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess AI‑generated responses to complex U.S. tax hypotheticals, covering individual, corporate, pass‑through, and international provisions.
• Apply a structured legal rubric to evaluate issue spotting, accuracy of Internal Revenue Code citations, and proper use of Treasury Regulations and IRS guidance.
• Identify reasoning gaps in areas such as basis calculations, gain recognition, tax credits, transfer pricing, and tax‑exempt organization rules.
• Provide detailed annotations and written feedback to improve model performance.
• Collaborate with AI researchers and project managers to align evaluation standards and project goals.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school; bar admission (active or inactive).
• 3+ years of practice in U.S. tax law, tax planning, or tax controversy.
• Strong analytical skills across the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and state/local tax frameworks.
• Excellent written communication and meticulous attention to detail.
• High ethical standards; interest in AI is a plus.
