Remote Tax Law Expert

About the role

Turing is seeking experienced U.S. tax law professionals to help fine‑tune advanced AI models. This remote freelance position allows you to apply your expertise in federal income tax, corporate planning, partnership taxation, and tax controversy to improve AI‑generated legal responses.

Key responsibilities

• Review AI‑generated answers to complex U.S. tax hypotheticals, covering individual, corporate, and pass‑through entities.
• Apply a structured legal rubric to assess issue spotting, accuracy of Internal Revenue Code citations, and proper use of Treasury Regulations and IRS guidance.
• Identify gaps in AI reasoning on basis calculations, gain recognition, tax credits, transfer pricing, and tax‑exempt organization rules.
• Provide detailed annotations and written feedback to refine model performance.
• Collaborate with researchers and project managers to align evaluation standards.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school; bar admission (active or inactive).
• LL.M. in Taxation is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of practice in U.S. tax law, tax planning, or tax controversy.
• Strong analytical skills across the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and state/local tax frameworks.
• Excellent written communication and high ethical standards.
