Remote Mechanical Engineer (FreeCAD) – Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Remote Mechanical Engineer specialized in FreeCAD to support manufacturing design projects on a contract basis. The role involves creating production‑ready 3D models and detailed drawings for a variety of fabrication processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and modify parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
• Generate complete engineering drawings with GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, and documentation ready for manufacturing hand‑off.
• Design components for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding, applying DFM principles.
• Perform CAD validation and quality‑assurance reviews to ensure models meet real‑world manufacturability criteria.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI model training and internal reference.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to refine models and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Hands‑on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection‑molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing best practices.
• Ability to deliver production‑grade CAD models that pass manufacturability validation.
